Dear Friends, Saturday, December 10th was my birthday, and I want to share a great birthday wish that came true on that day. I am so grateful to have been able to pull Lilly from VCAS and get her straight into a foster home! Special thanks to Mark Rulon for picking up Lilly from the shelter for me. I also want to send a very heartfelt thank you to Jerry Dulek, for his tireless devotion to the dogs, his hard work, and for his awesome help and support.
This sweet girl is in a very loving home with a wonderful foster Mom & Dad, and a 14-year-old Beagle/Dachshund foster brother! Her foster parents are so cute, they bought a ton of toys for her, as well as a new cushy bed to help her feel welcome. Lilly settled in immediately, and she is doing fantastic in her new home!
Our rescue is in need of NEW VOLUNTEERS!!! Our dogs need YOU!!! Due to work, family illness, and moving, we have lost some long-time volunteers. Here is what we need:
1) DOG WALKERS: For our dogs that are in boarding, so they can get out of their kennels every day, and get some love and exercise. This is vital for their emotional and physical health while they wait for their forever homes.
2) TRANSPORT: Help getting dogs to our adoption events and occasionally to the vet for an appointment.
3) ADOPTION EVENTS: We need volunteers to help with the dogs. We have had to cancel some events recently, for lack of available volunteers.
4) AFLAR also needs help with staffing a FOSTER COMMITTEE, a FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE, and a MARKETING COMMITTEE.
AFLAR is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we depend on the generosity of our volunteers to continue our life-saving work. Please consider volunteering with AFLAR. If you have some love, time & energy to co...
AFLAR pulled Kent from the Camarillo shelter in October, and he has already found his forever home with a wonderful family! His new sister is AFLAR alumni, Daisy, and they are becoming great friends. When Kent (now called “Jeter”) feels a little unsure about anything in his new home, Daisy comes and gives him kisses until he feels better. This goofy, lovable boy, who was a shelter favorite, has captured the hearts of his new dad and mom, Stuart and Debbie. Stuart said he wanted another pit bull because of the difficult time the breed is having finding homes. Stuart and Debbie have given AFLAR alumni, Daisy, an amazing home for the last four years and she is a very happy and very loved girl. On the heels of Thanksgiving, it's the perfect time to be thankful that another dog who was at the shelter, is now sleeping peacefully inside a warm home, with his new family!
